Personal and professional development is important to all of us, or at least most of us, right? 😊

When looking for a career, or making a new move in your career, you want to feel that the companies you’re applying to and the goals they have align well with the steps you’d like to take in your life.

In today’s world, we’re not always looking for a job that can just pay the bills, we’re oftentimes looking for a job and company that we feel invests in us as much as we invest in them.

In a recent Forbes article, “The 7 Personal Habits of Successful People,” they list out several habits that you can create to help your personal life, one of them being to create a life mission.

Why?

Sure, it may sound silly, but defining what you want in life and the steps you need to take to get there allows you to begin to pave the way to happiness and feeling successful.

We should consider our job, business, and career success as a part of that personal success, as many of us already do. In order to better align ourselves to achieve success in our personal lives, we must also make sure that the career and job that we’re working allow us to contribute to that overall feeling of being accomplished and being at a place we value and that values us.

So, what are some ways that you can go about doing that in your career or when making your next career move?

When looking at companies to apply for and reach out to in regards to your career, it’s important to make sure you research the following:

What’s the company’s mission?

  • Do I feel this mission aligns well with my professional development?
  • Do I see this company invests in its employees?
  • Does this company have core values that align with my own values?

While these are just a few of the things you’ll want to ask yourself when making a big career move, they’re certainly important because they will lead to your overall happiness, achievements, and quality of life with the company.

We all want to work at a place where we feel welcome and happy, don’t we!?

With that being said, at Jack Laurie Group we have our own core values with the acronym IACT.

They’ve become such an important part of our foundation that you’ll often hear them spoken throughout the hallways, in conference calls, on our Monday Morning Memo’s. We truly believe and live out these core values.

So what are they?

Live with Integrity

Not only do we value honesty and transparency within our organization, but ultimately, with integrity, we focus on doing exactly what we say we’re going to do. We are authentic and we deliver on the promises that we make. Our coworkers, customers, and suppliers each play an important part of the puzzle that makes our business success and living with integrity both inside and outside of Jack Laurie Group is an important part of success.

Operate with Accountability

We’re always accomplishing BIG things here at Jack Laurie Group, and in order to do that, we find that holding ourselves and our peers accountable allows us to get all things, big and small, done and done right.

Communicate with Candor

Communication is key in every organization, but why did we pick the word candor? We’re about honesty and being open, but as we accomplish great things we want our communication to always be direct and with the intention of helping our employees grow in their career and development.

Win with Teamwork

Teamwork makes the dream work! Sound familiar? Well, it is to us, we live it. Each employee is valued and plays an extremely important role in our daily operations that lead us to reach for our goals as a business, but also as individuals professionally and personally. Our team is great and we’re always excited to be growing and expanding with new members!

While our core values are important to each of us, we’re always looking for enthusiastic members to join our team and we’d love to hear from you!
