A Legendary Upgrade: Flooring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum

What started as a single-scope project quickly turned into something much more!

Jack Laurie Group was originally brought in to install 23,000 square feet of luxury vinyl tile (LVT) in the lower level of the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. But once things got rolling, the scope grew—and our team was all in.

Located at one of the most legendary race tracks in the world, the Speedway Museum is more than just a building: it’s a celebration of speed, innovation, and legacy. From the cars on display to the stories told in every corner, this space honors over a century of motorsports history. It also welcomes thousands of visitors each year, meaning the flooring needed to perform just as well as it looked.

As the project developed, our role expanded into a full flooring remodel. We expanded our scope to include carpet and base installation throughout the entire building, updating every level with materials that match the energy and professionalism of the museum itself.

The goal was to revamp the space without losing the spirit of what makes it symbolic. LVT was the ideal solution for high-traffic walkways due to its strength, clean look, and ease of maintenance. Carpet was used to bring warmth and acoustics to key areas, while a new base helped tie everything together with a sleek finish.

This project wasn’t just about replacing flooring, it was about supporting an experience. Visitors come to the museum to feel something: the power of the engines, the thrill of the track, the legacy of the legends. Every design decision, including the flooring underfoot, plays a role in creating that immersive environment.

We’re proud to have helped transform a place that celebrates racing heritage in the fast lane, and even prouder to be part of a project that honors tradition while making room for the future.
